Taking Action Against Wolves

A recent increase in wolf attacks in Northeast Oregon has prompted the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife to authorize lethal removal actions. On July 10, a wolf from the Tower Mountain Pack in Union County was removed after attacks resulted in the deaths of six sheep and an injured guardian dog. The Ruckel Ridge Pack in Umatilla County was linked to recent livestock losses, while the Bear Creek Pack in Wallowa County caused injuries to two calves. State officials continue to monitor these packs to balance wildlife protection with livestock safety.
