The Union County Sheriff’s Office has secured a $14,409 grant from the Wildhorse Foundation to launch a new drone program. The funding will support the acquisition of a drone equipped with thermal imaging and communication capabilities, enhancing the office’s ability to assist in search and rescue operations and improve situational awareness during incidents. With two licensed drone pilots on staff, the new equipment will be available for assistance across neighboring counties as needed.
