Union County has lifted its countywide burn ban, effective immediately, following a recommendation from the Fire Defense Board. Decreased fire danger and increased resources were cited as reasons for the change. While open burning remains prohibited, regulated agricultural field burning and use of incinerators and burn barrels are allowed under new guidelines. Recreational fires must follow specific safety measures. The board will reevaluate the restrictions on October 2.
