A challenge has been issued by Western Energy Alliance to illustrate how fossil fuels make nearly every aspect of our lives possible. The company is inviting everyone… including protestors of the oil and natural gas industry, to see if they can go just one week without using any products made from oil and natural gas. It could prove difficult they say, for anyone who uses signs, markers, paint, cell phones, laptops, backpacks, shoes and clothes; bikes and cars. They point to the fact that one 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline. The rest is used to make more than 6,000 products ranging from electronics to luggage to office supplies and computer chips.
