La Grande Flushing Hydrants

The City of La Grande kicked off its annual fire hydrant flushing on Tuesday. The Public Works Department is now conducting tests to assess water flow for firefighting and removing sediment from the water system. Residents may notice temporary discoloration or odor in their water, though it remains safe to drink. To clear any discoloration, run a cold-water faucet for 10 to 15 minutes. Testing will occur today and again tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until all hydrants are checked. For issues, contact the La Grande Public Works Department.
