Updates Planned for 30 Year Old Forest Plan

The U.S. Forest Service is working to modernize the Northwest Forest Plan, originally created 30 years ago, to address new challenges. An advisory committee has proposed 192 recommendations, including a stronger focus on tribal inclusion and indigenous knowledge. The plan, which covers over 19 million acres in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California, aims to tackle invasive species, and severe wildfires. The draft environmental impact statement, initially due in August, has been delayed though.
