More Storms Mean More Fires Locally

Thunderstorms rolled through Baker County and southern Union County early Tuesday, bringing lightning, gusty winds, and rain. The storms ignited at least six fires, with crews actively responding to two new blazes near Keating and Medical Springs. The Blue Mountain Interagency Dispatch Center reported additional fires in North Fork John Day, Mill Creek, and near Whited Reservoir. Firefighters are working to contain these new wildfires, which were sparked by lightning strikes during the storm.
