Governor Kate Brown is facing a lot of scrutiny for granting clemency to a convicted murderer who killed a teenage girl in 1994. The governor has commuted a life sentence for 45 year old Kyle Hedquist, who was released on April 15th from the Oregon State Penitentiary per the governor’s order that was handed down on March 22nd. Hedquist was convicted in 1995… when he was 18… of the execution style killing a 19 eyar old girl to keep her from potentially divulging information about a string of burglaries. Hedquist is now living with a former prison chaplain in Salem.
