Wolf Death Cause Amended

A wolf here in Oregon that was originally thougth to have been illegally shot, was actually hit by a car. Oregon State Police on Tuesday, said the wolf, a 2-year-old female was found dead back on January 8th on Parsnip Creek Road… about 6 miles from Wallowa. Originally, wildlife biologists believe the wolf had died of a gunshot wound, and a reward of more than $16,000 was posted for tips leading to the person responsible. Now however, results of an analysis conducted at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Forensics Laboratory in Ashland, show the wolf actually died of blunt force trauma to the chest and pelvis… injuries considered consistent with being hit by a car. Turns out the gunshot wound that was found on her left hind leg was partially healed when she died.
