Earthquake Felt in the Area

An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck north of Boise, Idaho, yesterday. Fortunately, there were no major injuries or damage reported. The quake occurred at 10:25 a.m. and was centered about 6.2 miles north of Smiths Ferry. Two smaller earthquakes followed in the same vicinity, with magnitudes of 2.7 and 2.8. This is the largest earthquake in Idaho since a magnitude 6.5 quake in March 2020. More than 1,600 people in Idaho and eastern Oregon reported feeling the tremors, ranging from weak to moderate.
