Oregon Newspaper Shuts Down Due to Embezzlement

An Oregon newspaper has been forced to lay off is entire staff and stop printing indefinitely, all due to an embezzlement scam. Managers of The Eugene Weekly posted a story on the paper’s website Thursday morning, saying it was forced to halt its print edition for the first time in over 20 years after discovering that the newspaper had been the victim of embezzlement at the hands of someone they once trusted just before Christmas. So far, that person has not yet been named, arrested, or charged.
